After going thirty years without getting any tattoos, I'm finally getting one!
I'm so scared but so ready all at the same time.
On Saturday, my boyfriend is going to go get started on his sleeve tattoos, so I'm going to see if the tattoo artist/piercer will be willing to do a few quick things for me, too!
This is what I want to get done:
I'm getting it for my cat, Layla, who passed away a few years ago at the age of thirteen. I had her since she was a six week old kitten. She was my best friend from birth until the day she died.
This was taken a few months before she died. Her whiskers were once black, but turned white as she aged.
Check behind the cut for more pictures of my beautiful Layla, thoughts on getting inked, and photos of my very first piercing experience!
When she purred, she would stick her tongue out!
This is my computer chair, where she used to sleep when I would stay up late at night and work on coding.
To give a little background, I used to be terrified of piercings. I had a bad experience when I was a child, and didn't go back in to get my ears redone until I was twentyseven or twentyeight. I was SOOO scared, but I did it and now I'm stretching my holes in my ears!
When I first got them pierced, he did them at a 16 gauge, which is two sizes bigger than your standard earring.
Now I'm at a 14 gauge.
To stretch from a 16 to a 14, I got these really cool spirals that were tapered and started at an 18 and progressively moved up to a 14. I did both ears in a single night and it was almost euphoric. This rush of adrenaline just surges through you because of the light pain you're experiencing. It's almost like a high, like the night I got them first pierced.
I'm thinking about going to at least a 10, so I can wear little tunnels.
These were taken in 2011 at Ink Well, our local tattoo parlor. Chris, the piercer, is one of the only people I trust getting that near my ears with a needle and he did an amazing job.
The experience was great, and I hope getting my nose done will be just as good. I'll be video taping the experience and sharing on my youtube channel!
I'll be videoing the tattoo, too!
I'm a little afraid, but excited at the same time. It's going to be a lot of fun. You'll see an update on Saturday night!
That tattoo will be so cute!!
ReplyDeleteWe lost our cat last year to epilepsy, and it is one of the worst experiences ever! But out mom got a tattoo of him as well♡
I'm so sorry to hear that :( I was numb for days after I lost Layla. I wanted to do a larger piece but this is my first piece and I don't know how I will be able to take it. I've broken my ankle, had my front tooth knocked out, have turned into a pro with IVs and having blood drawn, so it cannot be that bad compared to all of that fun.
DeleteWhat does her tattoo look like? I love seeing people that get tattoos to commemorate their animal pals ^_^
